Biography

Dr. Anita Halder is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Sciences at IISER Berhampur. She pursued her BSc in Physics Honours from Serampore College, Hooghly and her integrated PhD at S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, in Physics under the affiliation of University of Calcutta. She subsequently held postdoctoral research and fellowship positions at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland — including a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship — before serving as Assistant Professor at SRM University, AP, and now at IISER Berhampur.

Her research focuses on strongly correlated systems, magnetism in two-dimensional materials, and emergent quantum phenomena, employing advanced ab initio techniques combined with machine-learning–based materials discovery and genetic algorithms. She also performs quantum transport simulations of spintronic devices using the non-equilibrium Green's function formalism. Her work spans complex oxides, permanent magnets, and semiconductor heterostructures, with theoretical predictions subsequently confirmed by experiments.
