Vision
The Department of Outreach at IISER Berhampur is working towards enabling Scientific Research to Reach Everyone.
- Scientific Outreach activities help in engaging the community as well as policy makers and stakeholders understand the scientific research being done in an accessible manner
- Community Outreach Events help in communicating knowledge to audience whomay not have specialization in that research area
- Outreach activities also encourage researchers to think of their work in a muchlarger context such as healthcare initiatives and hence works better withmultidisciplinary/multi-institutional partnerships.
Outreach Initiatives at IISER Berhampur have been operational as a three-tiered approach:
- Education, Outreach and Awareness for School and College Students
- Educating the Educators; workshops for teachers and faculty
- Outreach and Awareness Initiatives for the Community Health and Society
Note: Year-wise activities are recorded as per below parameters.
Student-Centric Outreach Initiatives:
- STREAM (Science To Reach Everyone And Motivate) is an annual event conducted by the different student-run Science Clubs within the institute.
- Visit of school students to IISER for Academic Exposure visits
- Visit by IISER students for various scientific research related activities
- Visit by IISER Faculty to schools, colleges and educational institutions for awareness talks
- Tutorials and Hands-on Workshops and Training Activities for students
Educator-Centric Outreach Initiatives:
- Tutorials and Hands-on Workshops and Training Activities for school teachers and educators
- Hosting of short-term research fellowships of educators
Community-Centric Outreach Initiatives:
- Periodic Community Cleanliness Campaigns
- Along with our Medical Team, health care camps are conducted in the nearby villages
