Overview
IISER Berhampur provides a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive residential environment that fosters academic growth, personal development, leadership, and social responsibility among students. The permanent campus currently hosts two fully functional residential facilities—one Boys’ Hostel and one Girls’ Hostel—while a third hostel is under construction. In addition, six hostels operate at the Transit Campus.
Located in the serene Laudigam region, the permanent campus offers a peaceful learning atmosphere, bordered on one side by a few nearby villages and on the other by the scenic Bay of Bengal. In contrast, the transit campus hostels are situated in well-connected urban residential areas.
Despite gender-segregated accommodations, the campus provides ample shared spaces for curricular and co-curricular engagement. Students have access to common sports facilities, gymnasiums, an amphitheater, music and art rooms, common rooms, and other recreational spaces. All hostels are equipped with reliable Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity to support academic and research needs.
The hostels are furnished with essential amenities, including fully automatic washing machines, drinking water coolers, a central water purification system, and common bathrooms and toilets, all maintained for comfort and hygiene. Financial needs are supported by an SBI ATM on campus, with an SBI branch set to open soon.
Students can enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor sports, gymnasium facilities, and regular sports and cultural events organized on campus, contributing to a holistic campus experience.
A limited number of Guest Rooms are available within the hostel premises for academic and personal visitors. Booking requests may be sent to the Office of Student Affairs at: office_sa@iiserbpr.ac.in.
The campus ensures safety and convenience through 24×7 security personnel, dedicated housekeeping staff operating from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and round-the-clock maintenance support including electricians, plumbers, and carpenters. Student feedback is valued and addressed promptly through a maintained complaint/suggestion register.

Rules and Regulations :
IISER Berhampur provides on-campus hostel facilities for its registered students. Hostel accommodation is allotted subject to availability.
BS–MS students may occupy their allotted rooms only during the academic semester. They are not permitted to stay during the vacation period (as specified in the Institute’s Academic Calendar) unless special permission is granted.
Integrated PhD and PhD students are provided hostel accommodation, subject to availability, for the full duration of their programme—up to seven years for Integrated PhD and five years for PhD, or until thesis submission, whichever is earlier.
Hostel accommodation, if available, may also be extended for a limited duration to project staff (e.g., Project Assistants, Project JRFs, Research Associates) and Post-Doctoral Fellows. Those accommodated under this category must pay the prescribed charges as determined by the hostel administration. They are also required to follow all hostel rules applicable to regular boarders and will not be eligible for HRA (House Rent Allowance) during their stay in the hostel.
Students may be allotted single or double-shared occupancy rooms.
First-year BS–MS students are mandatorily placed in double-shared rooms, while students of other batches receive allotments based on availability. All room allotments and related procedures are carried out at the discretion of the hostel administration.
All resident students are expected to maintain proper conduct, discipline, and general etiquette and must follow all instructions issued by the hostel administration. This document broadly outlines the hostel, mess, and campus rules; model codes of conduct; procedures for raising complaints; and the roles of various student welfare committees.
The Hostel Administration may issue additional instructions with the approval of the Competent Authority, and such instructions will be binding on all hostel residents.
