About the Speaker

Prof. Jan J. Weigand is a renowned and distinguished scientist recognized for his pioneering contributions to sustainable chemistry and circular economy practices.
He earned his Dr. rer. nat. degree in 2005 from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich with distinction. His academic and research excellence has been widely acknowledged through numerous prestigious awards and fellowships, including:

  • Bavarian Culture Prize (2005)

  • Lynen Scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

  • Liebig Scholarship (2008) from the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie (FCI)

  • Emmy Noether Research Fellowship by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)

  • Wöhler Research Award for Young Scientists

  • ERC Starting Grant (2012) from the European Research Council

Currently, Prof. Weigand serves as a Professor at the Technical University of Dresden, where his research group focuses on innovative strategies in phosphorus chemistry, sustainable synthesis routes, and molecular design for environmental resilience.
