Roles

The Office of the Dean, Research and Development, oversees and manages research and development activities in the Institute through the following activities:

• Setting research priorities and goals: work with faculty, researchers, and other stakeholders to identify research priorities and set goals that align with national and institutional missions and objectives,
• Developing research policies and procedures: develop policies and procedures that govern research and development activities, including ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects or animals, intellectual property policies, data management policies, and knowledge dissemination policies,
• Managing research funding: oversee the allocation and prioritization of research funding and ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively to support high-quality research,
• Encouraging inter- and trans-disciplinary research: encourage collaboration among researchers from different disciplines, institutions (nationally and globally), and industries to foster innovative research and create solutions to complex problems,
• Promoting international research collaborations: promote international research collaborations to facilitate knowledge exchange and create opportunities for Indian researchers to participate in global research initiatives,
• Building partnerships with industry: build partnerships with industry to facilitate the translation of research into practical applications and promote innovation and economic growth, and
• Mentoring and supporting research: provide mentorship and support to researchers to help them develop their research skills, secure funding, and publish their work in high-impact journals, or patent, and market their technologies.

The Office of the Dean, Research and Development provides necessary facilitation, and mentorship to the faculty members and liaises with the potential funding agencies.
