Making of IISER Berhampur Logo
The LOGO which we crafted by taking the inspiration from chakra of the Konark Sun Temple which is renowned throughout the world for its unique stone sculptures. We be- lieve The chakra (Konark Wheel) represents our institute and where it stems from. The wheel has its unique attributes like "The Sundial shows the time throughout the day" is still incredi bly accurate though it was built in 1250 AD. Let's have a closer look upon it.
Like the original Konark wheel, Our logo also having 8 wider spokes and 8 thinner spokes. In the real wheel the 8 major spokes that divide 24 hours into 8 equal parts, which means that the time between two major spokes is 3 hours. There are 8 minor spokes as well. Each minor spoke runs exactly in the middle of 2 major spokes. This means that the minor spoke divides the 3 hours in half, so the time between a major spoke and a minor spoke is an hour and a half or 90 minutes. Talking about the time, we believe, “We can not shun the relevancy of time since It is the most im- portant factor of any educational institutes.”
As far as the colour is concerned, The shades of red which we used in the logo is the same red as we see when Sun on the horizon ( #cc0000 HEX to be exact).
Talking about the font. There are three different fonts, we used
while constructing the IISER logo. First one is "Arial Bold", this font is responsible for the English text that we see inside the logo, for Hindi, We used "Adobe Devanagari Bold". As far as the outer area fonts are concerned, we used "Neuro- political" (Regular) font, which is a free font and We believe, it delivers a modernized view to our institute.
